Discover a magical world and be swept away in the adventure of a life time!

After the Great War that divided the peoples, the five kingdoms of men plunged into a Dark Age that lasted 500 hundred years. To heal the lands and restore the light, the great kings decreed that magic and all that is magical, be it creature, man or device, shall be cleansed to dust. From their thrones, the kings watched as creatures born of magic were hunted to extinction by heroes chosen to honor their clans in the blood games. The cleansing raged for so long that no human could recall a time without it and it is in this time that the Dark Lord Sathar returned from the dark beyond. The one hope of the peoples of Ruin Mist was Queen Mother, the elf queen of old. She saw a way out of everlasting darkness, a path that required the union of the divided peoples.

Poorly executed fantasy story that didn't engage me

I have read a lot of fantasy novels over the years and this was not one of the good ones.

The storyline is very shallow about a young man beginning to learn that he is a mage a he travels with an older shaman.

The main problem with this book is that the plotline is rushed and when a good concept is introduced it is not described well and only discussed after it happens.  The characters are also not well developed as they talk more about where they are going and not about who they are or what motivates them.

I felt the prose in the book was descriptive where it didn't need to be and rushed when more details for a section of the storyline would have been interesting.

This book was hard to follow and didn't have much substance so I recommend that you check out some of my other fantasy book reviews for better books in the genre.

I give it only 1 star as it was far short of a well-written fantasy book and the ideas were rushed and the characters had very little substance.
